A Townhouse Party at Hotel Du Vin

A chic stylish wedding followed by a townhouse party to remember!

The brief

Anya & Adam wanted to create a classic wedding ceremony at Eastwood House Glasgow, then a stylish wedding breakfast & party to end all parties at Hotel Du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens.

They wanted 88 Events’ design expertise to create their dream wedding and our organisational skills to plan the wedding, allowing them to sit back and relax whilst they were guided along their wedding journey.

Wedding design

Anya & Adam’s wedding design was stylish and classy, with a party twist. They chose a neutral colour palette with warm tones of cream and latté. Splashes of colour were added through flowers and a wonderful wedding cake.

Their party was designed like a trendy nightclub scene so that the happy couple and their guests could party the night away in celebration.

Spreading the word

To tell their friends and family about their wedding day, Anya & Adam chose a luxurious white, flip up invitation that was tied with a beautiful pearl satin ribbon and finished with a large crystal diamanté.

The invitation was accompanied by an acceptance card, additional information card and a matching inner and outer envelope. The classic sophistication of the invitation set the tone for the rest of this wonderful wedding!

Photography

To capture the special moments of their wedding day, Anya and Adam chose one of our preferred photographers for their wedding photos.

Alison met with Anya & Adam for a pre-wedding shoot to discuss the kind of photos they would like, to see examples of Alison’s work, and for her to take some test shots of the couple.

On the big day, Alison spend the morning with Anya and the girls, whilst her assistant photographed Adam and the boys getting ready for the day ahead.

Her photography was unobtrusive throughout the day as she captured the excitement and joy of the guests and bridal party alike. You can see lots of the wedding photographs in the gallery on the right of this page.

The ceremony

As guests arrived at Eastwood House for the ceremony they were greeted by the sound of a piper and drummer playing traditional lively music, entertaining them as they entered the venue

Inside, as guests got comfortable on chairs that were covered in cream essential chair covers and finished with dreamy cream taffeta seat ties, the mood softened from the excitement the piper created, to a romantic atmosphere set by the string trio (harp, strings & acoustic guitar) who where softly playing in the background. The fireplace, in front of which the couple would be married, had vases of varying heights filled with phalaenopis & dendrobium orchids and white hydrangea. This was mirrored with hanging displays on the staircase pillars, giving guests a hint of what the bridal flowers would be like.

As Adam was nervously waiting for Anya to make her entrance, the bridesmaids, flower girl and pageboy came down the grand staircase. Moments later, Anya and her father came down the stairs. Her beautiful lace train flowed down the stairs after them; it was a picture perfect moment with the sun shining through the giant windows behind them as they turned the corner onto the landing and down the final steps to where Adam and the guests were waiting below.

Following the ceremony, guests flooded out of Eastwood House and Anya was greeted with a little surprise – her beloved family dogs had been brought along to congratulate her!

After the animal commotion and a few photographs, Anya and Adam were escorted to the fabulous Rolls Royce Phantom 2 that was going to take them to their wedding reception. The rest of the bridal party followed in a striking ivory & black Daimler Limousine and the guests in executive coaches.

Bridal flowers

Anya had an idea of what she wanted her bouquet to be like so when she met with our preferred florist it was a fun and stress free afternoon. She chose a beautiful trailing bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids with no greenery, and matching hand ties for her bridesmaids, who also wore an orchid in their hair. The flower girl carried a delightful wand, decorated with dendrobium orchids.

Anya chose a traditional buttonhole for the gents - a single luscious white rose with a thistle.

Wedding breakfast styling

One Devonshire Gardens is a collection of traditional townhouses which are opulently decorated to the highest standards. The drinks reception area needed next to no enhancement, only a few floral arrangements and nightlights were added to the space to soften it’s look.

The wedding breakfast was in a room decorated with warm natural browns and creams. Anya & Adam wanted a table design that would look like an extension of the interior design of the space.

Our designers worked closely with them to produce a sophisticated design that did just that. From the 88 Events’ hire collection they chose biscuit essential chair covers, floor length tablecloths and napkins, with latté taffeta seat ties to match. The napkins were folded to incorporate a personalised menu and placed on a pearlescent latté charger plate.

To add a splash of colour to the room, cocktail vases were filled with bright coloured flowers – a different colour on each table. Clear glass ribbed nitelights were added to the table centres and positioned on fireplaces and ledges around the room for added ambience.

Scrumptious cakes

Rather than opting for a traditional tiered wedding cake, Anya and Adam wanted a more fun & unusual option. They chose to have Minimos - little lemon sponge cakes dipped in fondant icing and lovingly hand-decorated.

Their Minimos were in hot vibrant colours decorated with all kinds of cute butterflies, flowers and birds. The giant display of these little delights was a splash of colour that worked perfectly with the bright floral table centre.

It’s party time

Following a delicious meal, guests moved back to the reception area whilst the room was transformed into a chic nightclub where a top London DJ was to entertain guests for the evening.

A super modern bar, with a mirrored top and lit with pink LED lights was placed in the room. Two black lacquer planters with giant palms framed its eye-catching spot. In front of the bar there were poseur tables, dressed in noir vintage damask with a pose of flowers and a nitelight added for a finishing touch.

At the other end of the room, where only an hour earlier guests had been dining, a twinkling white gloss LED dance floor had been laid, complemented by funky lighting and production.
Guests were thrilled when they returned to the space, immediately hitting that dance floor, and they stayed there for the night!

For those who wanted to take a breather from the dancing, the quaint outside terrace was lit with lighthouse lanterns for a romantic atmosphere.

Suppliers

88 Events work with a wide variety of suppliers across the events industry. Suppliers are chosen for each event based on the following criteria:

  • The type of event
  • The reflection they will have on the client’s image
  • Their standard of quality must be deemed acceptable by 88 Events
  • They must be able to provide proof of their experience

For this event, 88 Events chose a mixture of local & national suppliers to provide the desired high quality products and services.

During the setup on the morning of the wedding and throughout the day, 88 Events were on site at Eastwood House and One Devonshire Gardens to ensure that each element was in place so that the day would run perfectly.

Venue co-ordination

With so many elements involved in designing this wedding it was imperative that we communicated constantly with the team at One Devonshire Gardens.

88 Events enjoy a good relationship with One Devonshire Gardens and there is a mutual understanding of how both the venue and 88 Events operate, allowing for a seamless production of the wedding.

The verdict

“Thank you so much for everything you did for us to make our wedding the most special, memorable and amazing day of our lives. From start to finish it was great to work with you on all the detail and planning and because of you, we had the enjoyable job of just choosing everything without the added stress of putting it all in place (I’m missing that and my daily calls to Gill already!)

We loved everything about our day and both really appreciate all the hard work your team put in to pull it all together. We also appreciate the extra work put in as our plans had to change on more than one occasion.”
