What Do You Serve a 3 Michelin Star Chef for Breakfast?

The Gordon Ramsay Gala Dinner in aid of Scottish Spina Bifida is taking place earlier this year. July 14th to be precise and it’s actually called Gordon Ramsay’s Summer Ball.

Last week I had the pleasure of welcoming Deborah Roe of SSBA, Jacqueline O’Donnell of the Sister’s Restaurant and Clare Smyth of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London.

For those of you who don’t know, that is Gordon Ramsay’s flagship restaurant with no less than three (yes 3!) Michelin stars.

Claire is the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with this accolade in the UK.

I’ve worked with a few celebrities in my time and even dressed a private room for the King of Spain once but I don’t recall being as nervous about this meeting. I mean, what does one serve a chef of such standing?

In the end, I decided to play things safe and went with some Granola, fresh blueberries and orange juice. Claire was charming although they must have eaten already as no-one touched a thing!

Anyway, we had a great meeting discussing table settings for the upcoming ball.

This will be our 5th year involved in this wonderful event and our 4th as official design sponsors. Each year we’ve tried something different – always looking to improve on the previous year – and to say I’m excited about this year’s event is an understatement.

Whilst I can’t reveal anything just yet, we’ll be keeping you updated about everything as we get closer to the event itself – no super-injunctions here.

2010 was a record-breaking year for 88 Events and 2011 looks like it could be even better.

This weekend we have a busy one with no less than 3 major events on. I’m off to Harrogate on Wednesday for 5 days for what will be a very special private party – can’t wait!

Until next time,
