The great hall at Stirling Castle is transformed into a contemporary nightclub to celebrate a 40th birthday.
Our client, Laura, knew from the outset that she wanted to create an informal party for her husband Gavin. It had to be visually exciting with lots going on, in modern contemporary colours.
We took her on a visit to Stirling Castle and described our vision of turning the great hall into a contemporary nightclub, and she loved it!
Drinks reception – Chapel Royal
As the guests began to arrive they were welcomed into the chapel royal where glamorous ‘cigarette girls‘ with trays handed out champagne and cocktails.
The room was predominantly lit by candlelight in 88 Events‘ fabulous coloured glass nitelight holders which were positioned around the room and on occasional and poseur tables covered with vibrant orange faux silk cloths.
A group of talented Miami ‘club style‘ musicians played on stage to give a truly ‘latin‘ feel to proceedings.
Party in the Great Hall
The 88 Events design team created ‘The Castle Club‘ concept to transform this ancient venue into a modern space. The colour palette chosen was black with accents of fuchsia, turquoise and vibrant blue and green.
A large perspex bar was internally lit and surrounded by 88 Events‘ stylish bar stools with more stools and poseur tables lining the hall‘s perimeter.
Dining tables were dressed with black cloths and black organza overlays to create a stylish look which was further enhanced by dramatic black glass cocktail vases, fuchsia ball candles, turquoise glassware and vibrant blue and green nitelight holders.
For the food, a selection of wonderful starters were presented in three food stations featuring a seafood bar and ice sculpture, antipasti and cheese.
Bespoke signage was hung over each station whilst a backdrop emblazoned with ‘The Castle Club‘ hung over the main stage.
For the main course, mince and tatties – the birthday boy‘s favourite! – were served in blue and green glass bowls to carry on the party‘s colour scheme, whilst for dessert, bite sized meringue pies, chocolate eclairs and chocolate milk shakes were devoured, all served on shocking pink charger plates.
A truly eclectic mix of entertainment was what really made this event stand out. Roller skaters and freestyle dancers mingled and encouraged the guests to get up and dance whilst a 9 piece swing band – all dressed in black – played through dinner.
Afterwards, everyone partied the night away with a high profile DJ flown in from London on a dance floor with full lighting rig giving funky patterns to the beautiful feature ceiling rafters.
All in all, a night that this exclusive crowd would never forget!
“Thank you once again for all your hand work helping me organise Gavin’s party.
Everything we had planned became a reality that night, the setting was perfect, the music, the food and your attention to detail helped us produce a party which will be talked about for years to come! Thanks again for helping us achieve our dream party.”
