Detailed wedding design and sophisticated styling for an elegant marquee wedding

The brief

Donna-Marie & Barry wanted to create a subtle, stylish wedding where every little detail was thought about and intricately incorporated into their overall wedding design.

They wanted 88 Events to take the pressure off them so that they could enjoy their wedding experience, confident that our expertise would help them create the wonderful wedding day they dreamt off.

Wedding design

Donna-Marie & Barry’s overall wedding design comprised of many intricate details, from the fundamentals such as choosing stationery, to the finer details, like personalised menus and delicate flowers.

88 Events were there to guide them along the way so that they created beautiful memories for themselves and all of their guests.

Spreading the word

Donna-Marie and Barry chose a beautiful ivory invitation wrapped with an almond satin ribbon and finished with a crystal diamanté accent to tell their friends and family about the wedding day.

The invitation was accompanied by an RSVP card, additional information card and a matching inner and outer envelope. Guests were thrilled and excited to receive such a beautiful invitation that set the precedent for the rest of the wedding!

Piper

Wedding design doesn’t have to only mean beautiful table linen and flowers, it incorporates any other elements that add to the overall feel of the wedding and the ambience on the day.

To add a little touch of tradition to their wedding, the couple wanted a piper to pipe the guests in and out of the church for the ceremony, and from the drinks reception at Mar Hall into the grand marquee.

Bridal flowers

Donna-Marie met with our preferred florist and choose a beautiful bouquet of cream roses, with organza ribbon and pearl pins covering the stems.

She chose simple and elegant matching bouquets for her bridesmaids, classic buttonholes for the gents and fabulous floral wands for the flower girls!

Marquee styling

The marquee was styled beautifully for the wedding breakfast and party with Cornish cream vintage damask tablecloths, with matching chair covers dressed with latté taffeta seat ties.

Each place setting had a pearlescent latté charger plates and a vintage damask napkin, with cream wired ribbon tied into a voluptuous bow.

Stunning tall glass vases, surrounded by clear torpedo nitelights, peaked in a perfect sphere of cream roses drawing your eye up towards the sparkling chandeliers above.

Bespoke personalised mounted menus with a diamanté accent that complemented the design of their wedding invitations, were used at each place setting.

A matching table plan rested on an antique style easel, directing guest to the champagne named tables, whose names were visible in ivory and pearl frames

Favours of a charity pin where placed in delicate boxes with ivory and latté ribbon and placed on the charger plates for each guest.

Chic circular bar

A magnificent 4m circular bar with soft pink lighting and modern arrangements of cream roses graced one end of the marquee.

As a change from the dining tables, poseur tables dressed in Cornish cream vintage damask accompanied with bar stools and nitelights were scattered around the bar area.

Dancefloor

To wow guests and get them in the party mood, a white gloss dancefloor with twinkling white LED lights was placed in front of the stage. It was fantastic with the star cloth on the roof of the marquee and perfect for dancing the night away!

Suppliers

88 Events work with a wide variety of suppliers across the events industry. Suppliers are chosen for each event based on the following criteria:

• The type of event
• The reflection they will have on the client’s image
• Their standard of quality must be deemed acceptable by 88 Events
• They must be able to provide proof of their experience

For this event, 88 Events chose a mixture of local suppliers to provide the desired high quality products and services.

During the setup the day before the wedding and on the morning of the wedding, 88 Events were on site at Mar Hall and the church to ensure that each element was in place so that the day would run perfectly.

Venue co-ordination

With so many elements involved in designing this wedding it was imperative that we communicated constantly with the team at Mar Hall.

88 Events enjoy a good relationship with Mar Hall having previously organised many events there. There was a mutual understanding of how both the venue and 88 Events operate allowing for a seamless production of the wedding.
